Sunday Sum up

it's been a really nice weekend. My parents showed up yesterday so spent the day shopping with Mom - fabricland and that sorta thing. we used to spend HOURS at fabricland. but not nearly as much... and we used to call it "baterial" instead of material. i think sharon started that one.
today wasn't quite so nice, i went to go for groceries and wouldn't ya know it. flat tire. got it filled with air and then went had them replaced. wasn't planning on that. got the groceries and then did some cooking. stew for lunches (i'm not big into sandwiches), and for supper, angel hair pasta with shrimp in alfredo sauce with fresh asparagus. yum yum. with fresh french bread. oh my that was good. and i baked some oatmeal for breakfast....

i got 2 layouts done though!
a lonely walk can be fixed by meeting a friend.
i'm trying to use up my old paper... Karen took these photos. she's great!
more older paper - MOD - is that even around any longer?
Magnolia Spring.
"it's the smell - it's just amazing! and those pretty blossoms. i so wish i had taken so many more photos of that tree in the back yard - 1991 when i lived in Niagara Falls."

hey

hey - check this blog out - got the link from Leica....

Fire & Ice

Those have got to be the coolest albums! Build a page - what a great concept! Gotta start bugging the stores here about that one!

There is SO much new stuff coming from the different scrapbooking companies. How does one decide what to start to bug the stores about? Top of my list is the grungeboard mini's. then the Maya road sheer keychains (which Scrapping Nook has on preorder - yeah!)
i think after that it's going to be pick and choose as it arrives in the stores. i really don't want the WHOLE line of basic grey - just some of the pieces. kwim? well to be honest i don't NEED any of it. I have enough stuff to make THOUSANDS of layouts... i just need the photos now!
time to start asking the cousins if i can use their photos of their children!
but it's exciting to see the new things that will eventually show up here!

MJ - I'd love to have cards that the tykes have made - what an awesome idea - i never thought of getting children involved!

So this weekend i made more cards - for a total of 73 Christmas cards. Spent Friday night laughing with the girls and then on Sunday afternoon too!
and OMG it was cold out. and it's warmed up a bit... which is really nice. i can't wait until it's spring!

that's it for today - i'm off to a warm bed and a book. i just haven't been warm enough lately and i think i'm catching something again. sigh. oh well - soon the spring will be here and it'll be warmer!

thanks for reading!

stuff

widgits are cool - i got the "where bloggers come from" one. it's really neat to see where the visitors arrive from - Saucy has it on her blog and it's cool to see where people are from!

i was playing with ink.... modelling after Tim Holtz. that guy is talented!
so the 2 tags on the left are with the embossing resist technique. FUN!
stamp an image, emboss. ink the rest of the paper. that was lots of fun! and then put the tag/paper in between two layers of scrap paper and iron until the embossing bleeds through the scrap paper. that leaves the original image showing through. i like this technique! i then sprayed with glimmer mist - LOVE that stuff!

the tag on the right is stamped stuff with some grungeboard hinges on the side.
i got these scraps of scallops from some other stuff i had die cut at JSI. left overs! it's a great way to use up some scraps!

going to have to make some more into Christmas cards!

So this is my cover for my Faith Journey. It's in response to a Scripture challenge over on Faith Sisters.com. They post a word on Sunday and the challenge is to find a verse that exemplifies the word to you. Lots of digging into the Bible! It's a good thing.

i'm not sure that i'll show the inside at this point. it's more of a journalling thing. maybe someday.

and you know what? - i hate colds. day 3 of it. the worst. can't breathe, and starting to cough. oh well. this too shall pass!

dentists and ramblings

Yeah - i'm still here!

i just wish dentist's visit's weren't so painful. My teeth are nice and straight, not that great of white but hey - that's ok. but they're really soft. i had to get one pulled on Wednesday and my mouth is still sore. so i'm having yogurt and banana and a wee bit of muslix for breakfast this morning and then there's a hard lump in my mouth - again. a different tooth broke. ARG! doesn't hurt - but it's really sharp. and a wee bit sensitive to cold. so i have to make another appointment. i HATE going to the dentist. She's a really nice person, but it's just the whole thing. stems from when i was a kid and had a really really bad experience. anyhoo. that's my story today.

um - haven't created much that i've taken pictures of.

I've got 4 circle journals i'm working on. and some Christmas presents, actually i've been sorta in a slump. but last night i worked on the CJ's and it was good.

Paper Trails celebrated their 2nd anniversary yesterday and i spent some time there showing make/takes! that was fun and HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

I'm really glad to be part of that team and really enjoy the company there! Deb and Marion are awesome and very creative!

Then in the evening went out to Vonda and spent time with the gals out there scrapping. great stuff.

now to get my clothes out of the laundry, and get ready to go to Brenda's staff Christmas party. It's always a good time at the Saskatoon Golf & Country club - if you get a chance to go there for a meal - do it! great meals!

ramblings on Sunday

I got some good news this week.... :)

Creative Escape 2008 is in Phoenix, AZ in Sept 08. LONG time away. anyway, they had a lottery draw of 600 names to be able to go to this HUGE event. last year they had 550 seats and 1200+ on the waiting list so this year they had a lottery to draw the names. and I got drawn! how cool is that?
Anita was the one who wanted to go and so we both put our names in for ourselves plus one. so if she got drawn, we both go and vise-versa. i got this cool email last monday and yippee skippy!
and then she got an email too!!!! what are the odds? great stuff! so we're both going and Janice (anita's friend and co-worker) and Dawn G (a scrapping buddy of mine!) are all going! how cool is that?
now to work out the rest of the details - like coming up with the $

AND on Friday, the CO called me into his office and offered me CR04 until end of the year! I'm to be doing more fin management stuff, so it's all good! CR04 is a step up from CR03, which i am, and it's a wee bit more $. so that'll help with the expenses for CE.
it's all good.

AND yesterday was Leica's cruise crop - so i stopped in to say hi... wonderful work being done and Leica is an awesome hostess! She's worked so hard for what she's doing and I really admire her! and am a wee bit green with envy....
she so deserves all the recognition! Awesome work and an awesome mommy and a great friend! some day, i'll be able to say, i knew her when..... pretty much that's now.... You go my friend!

AND - since i didn't have THAT much to do yesterday, i was in a card making mood.
so i followed the challenges from Angelosity - i've made 14 of her challenges so far, maybe more today.... hopefully i'll get the cards scanned and into my photobucket soon (like this week). and get this - i've haven't even used up 5 sheets of my Christmas paper. rats. i was hoping for a LOT more.... i made 6 cards with one set of the papers - Dream Street - Act Naturally - Elemets - it's all red and white and blue & green - not the traditional colors but cool. and the other 6 cards were with Paper Adventures - red stripe and the blue dotted one. i'm so tired of those papers!
so now onto the other collections of Christmas papers. i'm saving the "good" - read that new - paper for my own cards!
i've got 10 to make for a swap and then my family ones
6 sympathy cards to make for another swap .... those are hard... so off i go!

eh

bad bad blogger - that's me!

time - where does it go? i mean really - i have the same amount of time as anyone, but i seem to waste it. oh well.
I did spend Thanksgiving with my parents. which was really relaxing. and then Dad turned 70. wow.
i remember when my grandparents were 70 - that was OLD. now - not so much.
maybe because i officially hit middle age myself. and I don't feel THAT old. 32 maybe.

deep thougts hey?

i've been doing some scrapping. mostly layouts for Scrapable Moments Scrapolooza.... quite enjoying that!

and Karen P. did a photo shoot for me. just me. OMG! I love her photos!

so i'm scrapping those. got 2 of the 60ish done. i have to upload some more to print out! i had the whole batch printed out in 2x3 size so i can do some mini albums. but i'm thinking of doing some Christmas cards this year...

and I'm off to Scrapping Camp, as organized by Dawn G, LoriAnn and Tracy out at Rosthern this weekend. looking forward to that!

carpe the week!

my apologies....

I totally forgot to give credit where credit is due.

TAMARA - I used the card you sent me as a pattern for that red card in the last post. Her idea and i just stole it. I apologize!

Tamara's cards are FANTASTIC - she's got some posted at The Scrapping Nook - check them out! and if you should be so lucky, like to me to get one or two....WOW!
when i grow up i want to make cards like Tamara..... sigh.... maybe some day....

ttfn!

Sooooo

Scrapbook Fanatics had a Friday Night Crop - they usually have one a month at least - great stuff. lots of great challenges.

And ScrapShotz had a crop this weekend too.

So here's ONE layout i got done. with apologies to Andrea Wiebe - I lifted her layout.

I did work at Paper Trails on Saturday - nice day! and i quite enjoy hanging out there....
Here's a peek at one of the cards for one of the classes I'm teaching - it's part of an intermediate class. 3 cards that aren't your typical fold over cards.

Deb's got the classes listed here.

Another card I made this weekend - it was scraps from another project i'm working on. Daisy D's & 7Gypsies portfolio.
I actually worked on a lot this weekend! I got my Circle Journal ready for the next round of CJ at Scrapbook Fanatics - and Kellie (whom I send too) is going to be in town at the end of the month so I can just hand over!
This CJ topic is Scavenger Hunt - i've enclosed enough sealed envelopes - one for each - the idea is to get a photo of the word in the sealed envelope and scrap it. hopefully it'll work out.
i've gotten that done, and started working on a mini album for my auntie Sue. i found a few photos of her at age 8-9ish. so i'm going to do them up for her. I'm using this and Urban Lily Just Add Color collection. so far. got some more to work to do on it.
Oh - I was at Leica Forrest's place on Thursday night and we managed to work up 44 cards - her, Sasha and I - Thanks Leica!
I think i have 228 cards. THANK YOU! They're off to the troops this week.
And i'll keep collecting for next year - because i think they'll still be overseas for a while yet!

Wednesday wierdness

The woman in the photo is my grandmother. She was about 25 or so when that was taken. I only ever saw her with white hair. but she was really pretty. and the paper is Polar Bear Press, with some Maya Road ribbon and We Are Memory Keepers rubons and a few Prima flowers.

I'd love to get some more of that paper! It's nice quality with a bit of a sheen to it.

So i'm back at the job. i was gone for 2 weeks and i'm caught up already. how sad is that?

so

i'm hoping to upload some of the layouts from last week.... yippee it's working!
This layout is from a photo of Anita's (Thanks!)
She takes awesome photos. anyway.
i cut 5 of the same photo progressively smaller and stacked them with glue dots and foam squares.
Luxe paper, ink and Thickers. and call it a day.
love the effect of it.

i made some cards too, but they're scanned but i'm not sure where the cd is. still have a bit of stuff to unpack....

off to have a snack and some swishing....

Saturday ramblings

Just a small sampling of what i've been playing with this week.... along with some cards, layouts and not much else. it's been grand!

Saturday sum up

So - I was going to meet my folks and we were going to go camping in AB. but. didn't work out.
they went to the campground. totally full. cuz AB forest services has/is not allowing public access to the forests because of extreme fire hazard. they even told people with seasonal trailers in the forest to get them out. eek! so i'm really glad we're not camping there! i think the campground they went to was the closest one to that banned area so everyone headed there. and so my folks headed back home.

we're at home just hanging out. it'd been nice to go camping and we may head off on monday when most go back to work. cuz i'm off work until the 20th! Yippee - not that i don't enjoy my job but it's been slow.

eating fresh cukes out of the garden. yummmy... LOVE fresh cukes. and it rained here last night so the cukes are mostly washed off and taste soooo yummy for breakfast!

now to go and check out Photoworks in the Swift Current Mall - they've got some lovely 7Gypsies paper and a LOT of scrapbooking stuff (for the size of Swift - it's a LOT) not like JSI or Scrapbookers' Paradise lot - but enough!
and maybe some other shopping....
have a great long weekend!

Saturday's so-so's

so it's Saturday and here i sit at my computer. boring. oh well. that's the way it goes.

not too much going on right now....

i'm working on scrapapoolooza - i've got quite a few layouts done, which is good for me!

This Global Warming layout was in response to the challenge of "signs of our times"

journalling reads: maybe there's global warming somewhere on earth - i've not seen it here in Sask. more snow than ever! it's more like the ice age is starting! maybe it's a sign - there's worse to come! I hope not! i'm really not that fond of snow - i should be - i live in Saskatchewan! there was a lot of snow this year - maybe not quite as much as there used to be. or is it because i've gotten taller? maybe the times are changing....

tuesday's thinkings

So - the long weekend is over. and it was nice. and it was an extra long weekend for me. i took thursday off too and went to my parents.
spent the weekend painting the back entrance and stairwell to the basement and a wall in the basement.
my shoes are now covered with hampshire grey speckles and mint green speckles.
and we made jamjam cookies and cinnamon buns and pie and crumble and ate way too much. my mother is an awesome cook and baker.
but it was really nice to relax like that. haven't been home since Christmas - it seems like every time i'd planned to go, the weather would be against me. and i'm not driving in crappy weather anymore.
Sharon and Dad weren't feeling all the great but did manage to feel better by Monday. so we didn't do the family thing with mom's brothers this time. oh well. next time.
got to see the pix from their Cancun trip. looks neat. someday i'll get there. this year it may be just between Swift, Lethbridge and Edmonton. just like the past few years. maybe a side trip to Waterton while i'm in lethbridge.

now - i'm off to work on some coasters for a coaster swap. 3 done and 9 more to do. when i get them done, i'll post some pix.

Tuesday's ramblins

More random thoughts.

Thanks for the comments! I wasn't even sure that anyone would read it!

The cat - Anchovy - is setting beside me, butting her head against my leg. wanting something. this is nothing new. she seems to think that it's after supper - so where's her's? can she tell time? cuz we didn't even have supper at home tonight.

So i'm in Scrapapalooza at Scrapable Moments. great forum - one of the many i frequent daily. anyway - this is a contest - where we post 20 posts/week and do a layout based on the challenge. this week's challenge is "What's New Baby?" and all i can think about is the Tom Jones song "What's new pussycat? whoa whoa..." and ya get the picture. so i'm going to work on that ....
when i get it done, i'll try & figure out how to put it up here. along with the other one's i've done.

cuz i've got a few layouts.
one of the scrappers at the late night crop asked if i ever did layouts, cuz i was always working on other things. yes i do. not very often. but i do. i really prefer altering stuff and cards and ATC's and that sorta stuff...

so i may come calling to your blog to figure out how to post a picture!

you may notice that i write in lower case and abbreviate alot. that's the way i am. the shift key didn't work on one of my computers, and so i've gotten familar with not using shift to capitalize and whatnot. so there. that's me - it's also the fact that i can type way faster if i don't use the shift key. and i'm lazy. that's that for today!

Monday, April 02, 2007

Hello

i'm not much of a writer - i'm more of a lurker, reading, seeing, just enjoying everyone else's blogs.
and that's ok for now.
so Ralna - here's a bit of a post....

i have tons of time for other things and will try and make time for this too.

i'm slowly getting on the bandwagon for blogging.

A bit about me.
I'm a scrapper, reader, stitcher, aunt, sister, single, and i work for all the scrapping supplies i can get.
i can be found most friday nights at JSI (Just Scrap It), altering and playing with paper.
