Camp Cropping recap

This past weekend was Camp Cropping put on by Scrapbookers Paradise in Calgary. a rawkin' time as always!

The class that i got to be Tent Mom (aka assistant) for was Bo Bunny and it was supposed to be 4 layouts in 2 hours! i dont' think we finished the first layout but that's ok - because the teacher - Matt from Bo Bunny was a HOOT! (and nice eye candy). loads of product and great layout ideas!

the next class i took was with Trisha (link over there on the side). she makes you WORK for your layouts and it's an impressive one when it's done! lots of hand cutting and layers. very yummy. i got a bit done on it but then spent the rest of the time visiting with Allison Orthner.... what a gracious lady and lovely spirit about her.

Camp Cropping always has a layout contest - one submitts photocopies of one's layouts, 3 judges take a look and pick out one layout for journalling, one layout for photography and 3 for overall.

this layout of Buddy was 3rd! i was soooo stunned and shocked that they picked my layout! what an honor to be included in the list!!!!

the funny part about all of that is.... for the past month, Barb Riley and Kate Kading and Amanda Lepage were smack talking (on facebook) about how Sask gals were going to clean up at Camp Cropping on the contest - they've done it for a couple of years in a row and those gals alllll have super talent!

then, i posted on FB that it would be super funny if i came in from behind and wiped their butts with my layout! i really didn't think i had a chance to even come close but i was going to enter anyway. the entry fee goes to the scrapbooking program at the children's hospital in alberta. great cause! why not then?

so i did, and here's my layout....

i won a bunch of things including a SEI album in a hour box - thanks sooo much to the judges and Camp Cropping.

The first prize (i don't even remember who got second, i was so stunned) was for a layout by the rawkin' chickie from Vonda - Amanda Lepage!!!! it's an awesome layout that documents some of her feelings about having cancer and beating it. look for it in the Canadian Scrapbooker magazine soon. amazing layout. ugly cry while reading the journalling and i'm honored to be her friend.

so yet another year that the Sask gals walked away from Camp Cropping with heads held high, tissue in hand from the crying and ribs sore from laughing and hugging. it's a super time and i cherish the memories from the road trip.

Thanks gals.
