what a challenge! wow. which way to go? i could head to the university, but that's 2.5km so that was out. i could go south 1/2 a block to the open field... of snow. but nah. i could go north to the grade school. but i don't really have anything to do with that. i chose to look east. to sutherland's central avenue. it's only 2 blocks. and there's a bunch of places... mostly what i like about the corner - is Wing World!
home of amazing wings - all 52 flavours (dill pickle or raspberry pepper are my favourites) and the most amazing sugar rush in a deep fried mars bar. oh my goodness. picture it. a mars bar, coated with a batter, deep fried until golden brown (which makes the chocolate melt) and then covered in icing (powdered) sugar. one is enough for 2 people.
anyhoo. when the bunch of us "bad" girls would scrap at JSI - just down the street the other way, we sometimes would take breaks and go to Wing World to initiate the Deep Fried Mars Bar virgins in the group. laughter and sugar rushes always happened.
i still like to go to Wing World - i don't get the mars bar any longer, it's just tooo bad for one. but i get the wings! i love the art work on the walls. that orange and lime green and black and purple! it's just tooo crazy and fun!
so that's what my layout is about - the little shop down the street, at the corner.
here's the double pager as one photo -
the journalling:
Wing World... home of crazy wall art and deep fried mars bars. the bad girls would take a break from scrapping at JSI and go to Wing World to enjoy and initiate the Mars Bar virigin.... the newbie in the bunch. the sheer sugary goodness... heaven on a stick. we'd laugh and laugh and high on sugar, get the whole place going with us. the best place for me, halfway between home and scrapbooking. deep fried goodness and paper. what more could one ask for?
i used card stock, Heidi Swapp pattern paper from years ago, chipboard letters, green paint, the arrows are from Tim Holtz ideaology line, and black sharpie, white sigma pen, and some ephemera.
thanks for looking!
